RAMONE & FILM

What's your favorite film and camera combination to shoot with, and what do you love about it?

I love to combine formulas, and I usually carry at least 2 different analog cameras plus three digitals. I use every type of film I can get, regardless of whether it's fresh, expired, black and white, or color. The first person I always want to surprise is myself.

What do you consider essential to your approach to film photography?

The ability to look more carefully at light. Shoot less, think more, and enjoy the “mistakes.”

Did you begin your photography journey with film or digital, and how has it evolved?

I started shooting analog and LOVED the black and white lab. When I started working on weddings, my work was completely digital until three years ago, when I started playing again. Now I always have a bunch of reels on hand ready to shoot...

Do you develop your own film, and do you have a preferred lab for processing?

No, 1826 FILMLAB does it for me.

Which film photographer do you admire the most and source inspiration?

I'm not much of a mythomaniac, I try to follow my own path.

Why do you think couples should consider including analog film for their wedding?

Are you kidding? Analog photography physically captures the light that was there that day, some from very distant stars... Isn't it amazing? ;)
